160212-N-RM689-380 GULF OF THAILAND (Feb. 12, 2016) - An officer from the Republic of Korea Navy climbs down the pilot ladder of amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) to board an 11-meter closed cabin rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB)during a passenger exchange exercise between the United States Navy, the Royal Thai Navy, and the Republic of Korea Navy. Ashland is assigned to the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group, and is participating in exercise Cobra Gold 16, a Thai-U.S. co-sponsored multinational joint exercise designed to advance regional security by exercising a robust multinational force from nations sharing common goals and security commitments in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
