Staff Sgt. Caba places casings from the 21-gun salute inside the flag before handing it to the daughter of the deceased at a funeral aboard Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, Feb. 16. Funeral detail honors a military tradition for fallen active-duty members and veterans alike. The tradition includes the playing of “Taps,” the folding of an American flag to be presented to the next-of-kin of the deceased, and the 21-gun salute.
