Joann Ortloff speaks to the crew of the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) during the first Woman’s Leadership Symposium held in the ship’s ready room. More than 100 Sailors attended the symposium to discuss naval opportunities for female Sailors. America is currently undergoing a post-shakedown availability in which the ship’s crew and assigned contractors make improvements to the ship’s design.
