U.S. Navy Adm. Kurt Tidd, U.S. Southern Command commander, and U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. William Zaiser, U.S. SOUTHCOM senior enlisted leader, are given a mission briefing on the 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) capabilities during their visit to Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., Feb. 23, 2016. Tidd assumed command of U.S. SOUTHCOM on Jan. 14, 2016 and is familiarizing himself with the various component services that make up a combatant command. U.S. SOUTHCOM is responsible for all Department of Defense security cooperation in the 45 nations and territories of Central and South America and the Caribbean.
