PHIBLEX is a ship-to-shore landing exercise involving U.S. Marines, sailors and Japanese Soldiers, launched from the USS Somerset (LPD 25), onto the beaches of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Iron Fist enhances Japan Ground Self Defense Force and the U.S. Marine Corps’ ability to plan, communicate and conduct amphibious operations at the platoon, company and battalion levels.
