Childhood friends are reunited at this year's Glazier Clinic in Herndon, Virginia, as Marine Corps Recruiting Station Frederick's sergeant major, Sgt. Maj. Alonzo Baxter, presents the Semper Fidelis Coach Award to Jeff Smith, football coach at King George High School, March 5, 2016. Baxter and Smith met through mutual friends who all played softball together around the start of their high school years. Later, they ended up playing for the same senior-level baseball travel team, despite them belonging to rival high schools. The intent behind this award was to recognize a high school football coach who exemplifies the Marine motto ‘semper fidelis,’ meaning always faithful; and who models the Marine Corps leadership values of honor, courage, and commitment.
