Military police officer Spc. Stephen Strebinger of South Bend Ind., was awarded the Indiana Distinguished Service Medal on Jan. 7 for using an automated external defibrillator on a man suffering cardiac arrest, sending the required shock to his heart and ultimately saving the man's life at the Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center in central Indiana.
