NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Mar. 08, 2016) -- McKinley Price, mayor of Newport News, Robert Coleman, vice mayor of Newport News, Jim Bourey, Newport News city manager, Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding senior military and civilian officials, and Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) Commanding Officer Capt. John F. Meier tour the ship's flight deck during a test of the waist launchers that compromise part of the ship's Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS).
