SAN DIEGO – Marines with 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, present the colors at a Vietnam War 50th anniversary commemoration in San Diego March 29, 2016. The event was part of the presidential proclamation of commemoration for Vietnam veterans, which extends from Memorial Day 2012, through Veterans Day 2025. Hundreds of veterans attended the event where dozens of organizations, such as the San Diego and San Marcos Vet Centers, came to show their support and present resources available to veterans. According to Joan Craigwell, who served as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, the commemoration shows how much more people understand about war and how accepting they have become of what happens to the people involved.
