Outgoing commander of the 102nd Training Division (Maneuver Support), Brig. Gen. John Elam, (Left)accepts a canon shell casing fired in honor of his years of dedication and service during a Change of Command ceremony at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., April 3, 2016. Elam, along with Command Sgt. Maj. John Stumph, handed the reins of leadership of the 102nd over to the new commander, Brig. Gen. Miyako Schanely, and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Provost. The 102nd trains engineers, military police, and CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear) soldiers across the United States. Because soldiers from the Ozarks region initially made up the 102nd, it is historically known as "The Ozark Division" and its motto remains "Distinction, Valor, Marksmanship."
