Cpl. John Gonzales (right), an airframe mechanic, and Sgt. James Roderick, a crew chief, both with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 466, Marine Aircraft Group 40, Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan, prepare the hook inside a CH-53E "Super Stallion" helicopter prior to transporting more than 9,000 pounds of water to various operating bases throughout southern Afghanistan. This system is used to transport cargo externally, allowing the aircraft to simply unhook the cargo quickly or deliver to areas that cannot support landing of a helicopter.
