Dan Biteman, a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, adjusts a Swedish goshawk trap March 29 near the airfield at Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) Los Alamitos. JFTB, which is a California National Guard installation, is instituting a bird-avoidance program to ensure the airfield is safe for all of its federal, state and local partners.
