NORFOLK, Va. (April 21, 2016) - Hull Technician 1st Class Danielle Read, assigned to Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center's (MARMC) Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) laboratory, assists Maddy Coursey in conducting a magnetic particle inspection on a welded padeye to find cracks within the weld that are not visible to the human eye, at the NDT testing booth during MARMC's "Full STEAM Ahead" fair aboard Naval Station Norfolk. MARMC recruiters welcomed students from Hampton Roads schools to participate in hands-on activities during the fair, concentrating on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) and how these programs fit into the Navy. In addition to MARMC's Waterfront Operations, Safety and NDT Lab, Old Dominion University, Naval Engineering and Marine Systems Institute, Nauticus, Combat Direction Systems Activity Dam Neck, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command participated in the event.
