World War II U.S. Women Airforce Service Pilot Beatrice 'Bee' Haydu salutes an audience of military service members and aviation enthusiasts as they give her a standing ovation for her service to the United States during a WASP history video presentation Feb. 26 during the Women in Aviation International 2010 conference in Orlando, Florida. The WASP were the first ever women pilots and aircraft maintainers, paving the way for women in aviation. The purpose of the yearly conference is to encourage the personal development of women interested in the aviation field or currently in the field through educational seminars, mentoring and networking of both civilians and military members.
