MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif - Cpl. Terrente Corris provides instruction for firing an M16A4 service rifle during a Jane Wayne Day event at Camp Pendleton May 7, 2016. Corris is a quality control chief and a Chicago native with Battery E, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Jane Wayne Day is an event that gives spouses and families the opportunity to experience everyday life in the military. During this event, Marines helped spouses conduct small-arms fire on targets approximately 25 meters away and demonstrated how to execute fire missions using the M777 Howitzer.
“It’s kind of cool to see all their faces when they see our weapons and things we do,” said Corris. “We don’t think about it that much because we see this stuff everyday but for a lot of them this is probably the first time they’ve ever seen a Howitzer fire.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
