160513-N-IN729-028 YOKOSUKA, Japan (May 19, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airman Israel SotoMeserve, from San Luis Obispo, California, dons his proximity suit during a general quarters drill in the hangar bay of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Proximity suits are designed to withstand temperatures up to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
