160513-N-IN729-079 YOKOSUKA, Japan (May 19, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Alexander Sertick, from Olean, New York, wears a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) during a general quarters drill in the hangar bay of the U.S. Navy’s only forward aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). SCBAs work as a respirator system for personnel working in toxic, contaminated or oxygen-deficient environments. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
