Lt. j.g. Moudiha Kora Zaki, aboard a Benin Marine National Defender class patrol boat, casts off to escort the Belgian navy command and logistical support ship BNS Godetia as she prepares to depart Cotonou, Benin. Kora Zaki recently completed a six-week course in small boat handling and operations aboard the high speed vessel Swift as part of the U.S. Naval Forces Africa led African Partnership Station West initiative. The Benin Marine National Defender class patrol boat pictured was donated to the Benin navy during a previous APS mission three months earlier. APS is an international initiative developed by U.S. Naval Forces Africa to improve maritime safety and security with African partner countries. Godetia is homeported in Zeebrugge, Belgium, and is on a scheduled deployment.
