Gen. John W. Nicholson Jr., commander of the Resolute Support mission and U.S. Forces- Afghanistan, and Maj. Gen. Richard D. Clarke, the 82nd Airborne Division commander, unveiled a portrait of Lt. Gen. James Gavin on June 4, 2006 along with Gavin’s Daughters Chloe and Line. The portrait, commissioned by Line and Chloe Gavin, and painted by James Crowley represented their father at his best, with a rifle in one hand and helmet in another as he watched over his beloved Paratroopers. The painting was donated to the Airborne Museum in Sainte-Mere-Eglise, France as part of the D-Day 72 commemorations. (U.S. Army photo by Capt. Joe Bush)
