PACIFIC OCEAN (Jun. 3, 2016) – A U.S. Coastguardsman assigned to Pacific Tactical Law Enforcement Teal (PACTACLET), Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) 108, a Palauan law enforcement official and a Sailor assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111) inspect a foreign fishing vessel as part of Oceania Maritime Security Initiative, a Department of Defense program to protect partner nations’ waterways and fisheries. Spruance, along with the guided-missile destroyers USS Momsen (DDG 92) and USS Decatur (DDG 73), and embarked “Devil Fish” and “Warbirds” detachments of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 49, are deployed as part of a U.S. 3rd Fleet Pacific Surface Action Group (PAC SAG) under Destroyer Squadron (CDS) 31.
