Kentucky Army National Guard Sgt. Caitlyn Hernandez and Spc. Patrick Noell, medics assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 103rd Chemical Battalion, prepare a non-ambulatory patient for movement June 8, 2016 at Camp Rilea, Oregon, during Cascadia Rising 2016. The Kentucky Soldiers augmented the Mobile Medical Response Team (MMRT) which included Soldiers from Oregon, Kentucky and Idaho National Guard and the State Emergency Registery of Volunteers - Oregon (SERV-OR). Cascadia Rising simulates a 9.0-magnitude earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, which tests the Oregon and Kentucky National Guard’s ability to work alongside local, state and federal first responders and public safety officials during a disaster response effort.
