Capt. Rick Freedman, commanding officer Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune greets Rear Adm. Kenneth Iverson, commander of Navy Medicine East, during a tour of NHCL, June 15. "Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune is not only a preferred choice for its 44,000 enrolled patients to receive care, but also the preferred choice for its staff to work,” said Iverson. Iverson has served at five different Naval hospitals, including as the commanding officer of Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in 2011, where his role of supporting the I Marine Expeditionary Force was very similar to Freedman’s job here at Camp Lejeune, providing medical service to the II Marine Expeditionary Force.
