Washington Army National Guard Pfc. Dezeirai Lewis, a logistics specialist with the 56th Information Operations Group, and Sgt. Cassandra Callender, a flight medic with Detachment 2, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion (General Support), 168th Aviation Regiment, deliver simulated medical supplies out of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to firefighters from Whatcom County Fire District 5 in Point Roberts on June 9 as part of Exercise Cascadia Rising. The aviation capabilities of the Washington Army National Guard can provide a vital link to areas made inaccessible by natural disaster, and this mission tested the local civil authorities ability to communicate and coordinate a logistical plan with the Washington Army National Guard in order to deliver life saving supplies to their municipalities.
