A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk is tied down to the deck of the Coast Guard Cutter Polar Sea after pilots Lt. Cmdr. Scott Jackson and Lt. Scott Walden, guided by Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Talton, an aviation maintenance technician, and Petty Officer 3rd Class Anthony Newgent, an avionics electrical technician, practice landing to the deck of the Seattle-based cutter underway in Chiniak Bay just off Kodiak Island Apr. 6. The pilots conduct the training at least annually on the larger cutters in both day and night conditions to remain proficient should they need to conduct deck landings for operations or search and rescue.
