160707-N-BB534-264 Ligao City, Philippines (July 7, 2016) Nurse Marivi Marin (center) and Capt. Shiela N. Recupero, Armed Forces Philippines Nurse Corps, teach Lt. Jeff Samuels, intensive care unit division officer assigned to hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), about the hospital administration procedures at Josefina Belmonte Duran Memorial District Hospital during a subject matter expert exchange. During the exchange, Pacific Partnership personnel attached to Mercy and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines worked with hospital staff to enhance medical knowledge and increase patient based care. Pacific Partnership is visiting the Philippines for the seventh time since its first visit in 2006. Partner nations are working side-by-side with local military and non-government organizations to conduct cooperative health engagements, community relation events and subject matter expert exchanges to better prepare for a natural disaster or crisis.
