African Partnership Station West Commander Capt. Cindy Thebaud welcomes Senegalese Navy Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Capt. Dame Mboup to the graduation ceremony of more than 90 African sailors from Cape Verde, The Gambia, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo on the flight deck of the Whidbey Island class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall as part of APS West. The African sailors successful completed 16days of at-sea and in-port training in maritime safety and security aboard Gunston Hall. Gunston Hall is on a scheduled deployment in West Africa in support of APS West, an international initiative developed by Naval Forces Europe - Africa that aims to improve maritime safety and security in Africa.
