During a graduation ceremony for more than 90 African sailors from Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo on the flight deck of the Whidbey Island class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall, African Partnership Station West Commander Capt. Cindy Thebaud thanks Ghana Navy Lt. Cmdr. Samuel Ayelazono and other APS staff personnel for their work during the deployment. More than 90 African sailors from Cape Verde, The Gambia, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo graduated for the successful completion of 16 days of at-sea and in-port training in maritime safety and security aboard Gunston Hall. USS Gunston Gunston Hall is on a scheduled deployment in West Africa in support of APS West, an international initiative developed by Naval Forces Europe - Africa that aims to improve maritime safety and security in Africa.
