AT SEA – Marines with Company C, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, provide security for the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) from the forecastle with two M240B medium machine guns during a defense of amphibious taskforce drill during a straits transit exercise July 14, 2016. The drill was designed to integrate the Marines with sailors who provide security in the event of a possible threat approaching the USS Makin Amphibious Ready Group/11th MEU. PHIBRON 5 and the 11th MEU are participating in the Amphibious Squadron – Marine Expeditionary Unit Integration in preparation for their upcoming Western Pacific deployment 16-2.
