A pelican hook, named because of its resemblance to a pelican's beak, is used to secure an anchor chain in place. Bonhomme Richard (BHR) is the flagship of the BHR Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
