160815-N-WA993-011 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 15, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Fuel) Airman Brandon Matthew, from Rockwell, North Carolina, unravels a JP-5 fuel hose in aviation fueling station 11 for Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). According to Matthew, the inspection will include a click test, which runs electricity through wires inside the hose to harden and inflate the hose to take on fuel. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
