Oregon National Guard Soldiers take part in the Omaha Beach portion of the Oregon Best Warrior Competition at Camp Rilea, August 20, in Warrenton, Oregon. As part of the Omaha Beach event, Soldiers ran from the Pacific Ocean onto the beach where they grabbed heavy ammunition cans, and carried them to the top of a steep sand dune, to simulate the resupply required during the historic World War II assault. Soldiers competed in the three-day competition to earn a spot as either the Soldier or Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) of the Year and to continue on to represent Oregon in the Regional Best Warrior Competition scheduled for May 2017.
