Service Members Compete in Galley Wars during LA Fleet Week

160901-N-LD343-012 SAN PEDRO, California (Sept. 1, 2016) – Sailors assigned to Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) pose for a photo after competing in the TV pre-recording of the cooking competition "Galley Wars" held on the Battleship Iowa Memorial, during the inaugural Los Angeles Fleet Week. This year the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) competes with mine countermeasure ship USS Champion (MCM 4), Coast Guard Base Los Angeles/Long Beach, and Wayne E. Meyer. Fleet week offers the public an opportunity to tour ships, meet Sailors, Marines, and members of the Coast Guard and gain a better understanding of how the sea service support the national defense of the United States and freedom of the seas.
