160912-N-WA993-045 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 12, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Equipment) 3rd Class (AW) Kehinde Adewoye, from Lagos, Nigeria, performs a pre-operational inspection on the arresting gear engine via the graphical user interface aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). There are four hydraulic engines on the ship that control arresting gear. Ronald Reagan, the Carrier Strike Group Five (CSG 5) flagship, is on patrol in the Philippine Sea supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
