Petty Officer 2nd Class Randell Ryan Copeland, a native of Georgetown, Texas, is a Corpsman assigned to the 8th Marine Regiment, currently participating in the 23rd Fleet Week hosted by the city of New York. "I'm having a great time," said Copeland. "New York is a great city with great people who support the military." Copeland, the son of Kaye (deceased) and Randy Copeland of Round Rock, Texas, attended Round Rock High School and Baylor University, also attended an event hosted by Navy for Moms. The group was created in 2008 for the mothers and loved ones of those who are currently serving or considering serving in the U.S. Navy. The group gives members a support group to discuss issues with others who share common concerns. More than 3,000 members of the Maritime Services are participating in the yearly event hosted by the city. The event includes military demonstrations, sporting events, ship tours, Staten Island Music Festival, parades and a chance to meet the men and women of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
