160922-N-YG104-001 PHILLIPINE SEA (Sept. 22, 2016) Aviation Boatswains Mate (Handling) 2nd Class Dayanarita Valdez signals an MH-60S Sea Hawk, assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25, for replenishment at sea on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during Valiant Shield 2016. Valiant Shield 16 is a biennial, U.S.-only, field training exercise (FTX) with a focus of integration of joint training among U.S. forces. HSC-25, part of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is participating in Valiant Shield in an effort to increase naval integration and joint capabilities in the event of conflict, contingency, or disaster relief.
