Members of the 28th Civil Engineering Squadron at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., monitor the controlled structure burns for temperature spikes and fire safety. The room can reach temperatures upwards of over 1,000 degrees at any time. Each trainer carries a fire suppressant with them to keep the temperature down, but also to control the fire from spreading.
