U.S. Marine Col. Thomas Prentice, commanding officer for Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command, awards Sgt. Michael Russell, the maintenance control noncommissioned officer with SPMAGTF-SC, with the Joint Service Achievement Medal for his critical role in managing maintenance plans on two CH-53E Super Stallion aircrafts in support of Joint Task Force Matthew in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Oct. 17, 2016. JTF Matthew was a U.S. Southern Command lead humanitarian assistance, disaster relief effort in Haiti following Hurricane Matthew. Matthew was a category 4 hurricane that formed in the Western Atlantic Ocean and affected Haiti, eastern Cuba, and the Bahamas before moving up the southeast coast of the United States.
