A CH-53D Sea Stallion with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363 flies away as a test bundle gradually floats safely to the ground. Marines with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) and 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward) are pushing bundles of water out of the Osprey, CH-53D Sea Stallion and CH-53E Super Stallion using Low Cost Low Altitude Parachutes to float them to the ground safely and a honecombed cardboard cushion for a soft landing. If this proves effective, the Marines hope to be performing emergency resupplies of things like water and ammunition to troops when landing to deliver the cargo is not practical.
