U.S. Marines instructed the Cambodian Sailors on Combat Rubber Reconnaissance Craft (CRRC) operation and amphibious raids during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 16. CARAT 2016 is a nine-country, bilateral exercise series between the United States and Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. This phase of CARAT focuses on partnerships between the forces of the US and Cambodia, and Brunei. As the premier naval engagement in South and Southeast Asia, CARAT provides a regional venue to address shared maritime security priorities, enhance interoperability among participation forces, and develop key relationships that will serve partner nations for many years to come. The Marines are with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, forward deployed to 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Steven Tran)
