Secretary of the Navy, the Honorable Ray Mabus interacts with a crowd of Marines after a ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Nov. 9, 2016. During the visit, Mabus announced that the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, DDG 121, will be named the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr., in honor of the Marine Corps lieutenant general who was the first African-American Marine Corps aviator and Marine Corps general officer. Mabus also awarded MCAS Cherry Point with a certificate of achievement for its Blue level of achievement in the Fiscal Year 2016 SecNav Energy and Water Management Awards, for a well-rounded energy or water program.
