TRINCOMALEE, Sri Lanka (Nov. 24, 2016) Sri Lankan Marines get hands-on training with U.S. Marine counter IED detection equipment during a Theater Security Cooperation training event at Sri Lanka Naval Base, Trincomalee, Nov. 24, 2016. This bilateral training allows the two militaries to share tactics and procedures that help build and maintain military readiness. U.S. Marines had the privilege to share the 241 years of their Corps’ experience and history with the Sri Lankan Marine Corps, which is in its infancy stage. Working with foreign militaries provides U.S. Marines and Sailors valuable training with warriors from another culture, and builds camaraderie between partner nations.
