Maj. Mark Escherich, commander of the 121st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) District of Columbia Army National Guard stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va., dismounts from a UH-72A Lakota helicopter at McGuire A.F.B., N.J., July 6. The medevac company is headed to Germany to relieve a Black Hawk unit which is headed to Afghanistan. The Lakotas are the first Army National guard Uh-72As to undergo wartime training scenarios to assess the capabilities of the aircraft. The 121st is the first Army National Guard unit to receive the Lakotas, which will replace the UH-1 Hueys that are in service now.
