Marines and a Sailor man a crew-served machine gun and keep a lookout for suspicious activity on USS Carter Hall (LSD-50) during a simulated strait passage Dec. 7, 2016 as part of Amphibious Ready Group Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise at sea. The Carter Hall, USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19), and USS Bataan (LHD-5) aligned in formation during the passage while role players in small raid craft and larger vessels populated the area around the ARG acting as threats for the ships to react to. ARGMEUEX is a three-week training evolution intended to build upon previous relationships, thereby enhancing Navy and Marine Corps’ interoperability and amphibious warfare capabilities to tackle a wide range of operations during their upcoming deployment.
