U.S. Coast Guard LT. David Gilbert, commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard fast response cutter USCGC Richard Dixon (WPC 1113), briefs chiefs of defense and public security ministers attending the fifteenth Caribbean Nations Security Conference (CANSEC) on the cutter’s mission and capabilities. Leaders from 22 nations toured the cutter Dec. 7, 2016 during a visit to U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Juan as part of the two-day conference. During CANSEC, they examined trends, challenges and threats impacting stability in the Caribbean and defined a collective strategy to improve their forces’ collaboration in support of regional security.
