Lance Cpl. Addiel Perez, 21, a combat engineer from Miami, practices searching for a buried improvised explosive device during IED lane training. Marines with Mobility Assault Company, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, practiced clearing routes of IEDs in preparation for their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. Once in country, they will be responsible for making sure roads are free of IEDs to allow coalition forces to travel safely.
