Frederick Austin Crow Jr., now 90, holds a photograph of his father, Frederick Austin Crow Sr., who was transferred to duty at Pearl Harbor in 1936. As a 15-year-old, Crow witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor and Hickam Field on December 7, 1941. His father reported for duty aboard the minelayer USS Oglala during the attack, but found it had rolled on its side and sunk after a Japanese bomb hit between it and the USS Helena.
