Resting atop the Wai’anae Range, Mount Ka’ala Air Force station is covered by low-level clouds, Aug. 12, 2016, Oahu, Hawaii. Because of the quickly changing weather and the microclimates at various elevations throughout the mountain range, traveling the relatively short road often takes hours, and sometimes is rendered impassable.
