The NFLC is a new, shipboard leadership program with the focus on the continuing professional development of the second class petty officers on the ship. Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region.
