U.S. Marine Maj. Keith Nunn, lead exercise planner for Exercise SHARED ACCORD 2010 with U.S. Marine Forces Africa, reaches out to shake hands with a local child here, Aug. 3. Nunn and the Mozambicans of Moamba had just finished witnessing a military ceremony that marked the start of the exercise. Nunn is part of the task force, comprised largely of reserve Marines, who will work with the Armed Forces for the Defense of Mozambique, to help prepare them for their new role as a regional peacekeeping force. SHARED ACCORD is an annual, scheduled, bi-lateral field training exercise aimed at conducting small unit infantry and staff training with partner nations for the purpose of peace and stability operations. This year’s SA is being held in Mozambique. The exercise is scheduled to conclude on Aug. 13. All U.S. forces will return to their home bases in Europe and the U.S. at the end of the exercise.
