U.S. Marines with 2nd Marine Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, salute during the opening military ceremony for Exercise SHARED ACCORD 2010 in Moamba, Aug. 3. The Marines are a part of a task force of more than 700 service members who have set up temporary quarters here for the duration of the exercise.
As a part of Exercise SHARED ACCORD, the task force will be working alongside the Armed Forces for the Defense of Mozambique during the 10-day event. SHARED ACCORD is an annual, scheduled, bi-lateral field training exercise aimed at conducting small unit infantry and staff training with partner nations for the purpose of peace and stability operations. This year’s SA is being held in Mozambique. The exercise is scheduled to conclude on Aug. 13. All U.S. forces will return to their home bases in Europe and the U.S. at the end of the exercise.
